So, you want to know what sort of sports exist here in Memphis yes? Well say no more, this article will explain to you everything you need to know about Memphis and sports.

An avid fan of basketball? Well, you probably know this, but the Memphis Grizzlies are stationed here, it is their namesake after all. What you might not know is that they call the FedExForum their home base.

The FedExForum is a multi-purpose arena located at downtown Memphis, Tennessee. It is also the home of the NCAA Division I men’s basketball program of the University of Memphis, both of whom previously played home games at Pyramid Arena. The venue also has the capability of hosting ice hockey games for any of you enthusiasts of that certain sport, and Boxing, WWE & MMA. It also hosts things such as concerts, as well as family shows.

There is also a football scene, though for now, it is small. The Memphis Express, a charter team of the Alliance of American Football, is set to play in February 2019, and as to where they will be playing, they will play in Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium, also in Memphis. As for their coach, they will be coached by former National Football League player and head coach Mike Singletary.

As for the other kind of football, not to worry, there’s a team you can cheer on, or to be exact, you will cheer on soon. Memphis 901 FC is an upcoming American professional soccer team based in Memphis, Tennessee. Founded in 2018, the team plans to make its debut in the USL Championship in 2019. The club will play on AutoZone Park, a baseball stadium which is also home of the Memphis Redbirds, a baseball team.

Speaking of baseball, there’s also a team stationed here in Memphis. We have already told you their name, the Memphis Redbirds. They’re a Minor League Baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL) and the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. They are stationed here in Memphis, Tennessee, and play their home games at AutoZone Park which we referenced earlier. Said park opened in the year 2000 and seats 10,000. The team previously played at Tim McCarver Stadium in 1998 and 1999.

They were founded as a PCL expansion team in 1998. A total of 7 managers have led the club so far and its 500+ players. As of the completion of the 2018 season, the Redbirds have played in 3,000 regular season games and compiled a win-loss record of 1,514–1,486 (or .505). They won the Pacific Coast League championship in the years 2000, 2009, 2017, and 2018. The Redbirds won the Triple-A National Championship Game in 2018.

Oh? A rugby enthusiast? Not to worry, there’s something here for everyone, even you guys. There is a rugby team stationed here, called the Memphis Blues. The Blues home field is located at Tobey Park (located on N. Hollywood between Central and Park).  Practices are held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 to 8:00.  Home games are played at USA Stadium in Millington with a start time of around 1:00.
